Hello, I’m Xavi, one of Kata founders along with Julio and Raúl, who conceived the idea of Kata. Since I was a child, but particularly since 1994 when I started studying at the Escola Superior d’Hostaleria i Turisme Sant Ignasi, I always wanted to have a restaurant like Kata. What drove me was my own passion as a client for trying out varied dishes from all over the world, and the possibility of offering them in a single menu. That’s how the concept Kata was born.
I’m Raúl, chef and co-owner and a strong advocate of food made with care, starting from the essential preparations to the final outcome. We are artisans and make everything from scratch: sauces, stir-fries, a slow cooking process to ensure the best possible end-product every day for our beloved customers. I’m also passionate about nature and wildlife, as a child I wanted to be a zoologist! But I finally opted for the stove. Since I was really young I learnt with my mother the first cooking steps until the stove burner became my profession and I’ve been cooking for more than 15 years now.
